Blue Skies

Here is another jump-start to the weekend, celebrating the completion of Another hearts blanket! I truly, can’t get enough of this pattern. The first one was a fluffy pink blanket. That one turned out so pretty I wanted to make one in blue.

This pattern is so versatile, can be made into string bags and ponchos. It allows experimentation with colors and, of course, you can use scrap yarn for different rows.  I loved these soft and light shades of blue for this baby boy blanket. The pattern needs a base color, usually white but you can experiment with other neutral shades like cream, gray or even darker colors of black and browns. the good thing about white is it gives a pastel look to the blanket. Darker colors can be combined with neons for the hearts really getting a nice effect.

The only thing with the blanket is it has quite a lot of ends to weave in. To solve that I read a tip on Ravelry (only later when I had almost finished the blanket), suggested using 2 skeins of white. wherein after every heart row you need two rows of white and followed by one row of heart. For the white row after this one use  a new skein of white. This way you will be using one white skein for every alternate row with a lot less loose ends.

white (2 skeins), soft blue (1 skein) and light country blue (1/2 skein).

  • How many steps does it take to walk from your bedroom to your bathroom?

Very few. My apartment is small, hardly about 10 steps. 😛

Being a vegetarian, am not very fond of meat. But seafood (the smell of fish) makes me wanna throw-up. I don’t think I can ever muster the courage try weird foods like reptiles and bugs. EVER.

  • Tell us your favourite joke!

I am really bad at this! at this time, I cannot think of any joke. 🙂

  • What would you do with a million euros/dollars/pounds?

With a million euros/dollars/pounds, I would first buy a car and a lazyboy recliner (for crocheting ;)). and then make a plan of what to do next. I am sure will still continue what I am doing right coz I love it. I love being in Biology, and love crocheting.

  • What was your favourite habit as a child?

Writing. Not as in writing stories or poems, just writing with a pen. As a child, I just loved writing, calligraphy, taking notes, color-coding every heading.

  • How long does it usually take you to write a post?

It takes me about an hour to write a post. I usually have in mind what I want in a post and just go ahead and pen it down.

FRIENDS. This was my first addiction. I watched it over and over again, till I knew every dialogue of every episode of all 10 seasons.

  • Why are you blogging?

I am a newbie at crocheting, other blogs helped me get better at it. I want to share my experiences with crocheters who are new at this by inspiring them, and experienced crocheters to help me get through hurdles.

  • Do you have any guilty pleasures?

When I am hungry in the middle of the night, I need to have Ramen noodles (Maggi). During college days, I would do this at 3am and study through the night.

When my family came to visit me and we had am awesome vacation together.

  • Where could you spend hours when you’re not at home?

Apart from home (with my parents), at the library or a local café. This could keep changing with years. There is a canal nearby where I love to spend my time walking if the weather is good.

Silent Sage

Believe it or not, I am actually going backwards in my crochet experience starting from a more challenging filet crochet to a classic granny square blanket. I am literally SCARED to start a granny square motif blanket with the thought that the motifs are not going to align together because of varied tension and the blanket is going to look weird. But will cross the bridge when we come to it.

Here goes the classic granny square blanket that turned out beautiful in shades of  green for Spring. The project was awesome to work on. It grows really fast and the colors that could be experimented on this is endless. The pattern is pretty simple, with adjustable size, and modifiable colors.
