Fall Blanket Hexagons!

My first hexagon blanket in fall colors is here. For this blanket, I was looking for a nice blend of fall colors. I used 5 shades from yellows-reds and brown.

The tutorial for solid hexagons that I’ve used for this blanket is available for free here. This pattern is super straight forward and you can basically modify the pattern by changing the number of hexagons. I just went diagonally. and I really am liking the way the colors blend into each other. This pattern in great for gradients. You can use closely related colors here and they’ll have an awesome flow.

I made these hexagons and joined them as you go. I will be posting a tutorial for join as you go hexagons and solid squares soon. This join as you go was for the last round of the hexagon.

Materials:

sunshine, mango, pumpkin, harvest red, and chocolate.

Finished dimensions: 24 X 30”

I do not have any edging for this blanket yet and I am having the hardest time deciding if I should or not. So for now there is no edging.

I did make a bunch of half hexagons for squaring off the edges.

pattern for half hexies:

Ch4, join in the round by a slip stitch

ch3 (first dc) , *2dc ch2* three times, dc and turn

ch3, *dc in same space, dc on the next 2 dc, dc in space, ch2* three times, dc and turn

ch3, *dc in same space, dc on the next 4 dc, dc in space, ch2* three times, dc and finish off

As I said before, the last round you join in its space as you are crocheting it.

I promise I’ll have a tutorial soon. 🙂

Sunburst Hexagon Crochet Blanket No. 4

This past week I have been working on  this super colorful crochet blanket. It has 5 colors and joining in white.

IMG_0448

After creating random squares on random granny square generator, I made all the rounds in three randomly chosen colors using this pattern. Finally, I joined them using continuous join as you go hexagon, the tutorial for this can be found here. I love continuous joining and this tutorial is really awesome. Saves a whole lot of time and ends to sew in.

Materials:

Caron Simply soft yarn in the colors:

white, Harvest red, Lemonade, Blue Mint, Watermelon, and Limelight.

Finished dimensions: 24X28”.

I didn’t do any edging on this blanket. My husband convinced me that the staggered edge looks good. Now, I think so too.

Crochet 3D squares Blanket

Here is what I have been working on for a long time. I have had this project in progress since last November. I know we all have projects snoozing around. But I usually have only one or two projects (I know I am kinda crazy like that). Unfinished projects drive me crazy and I have to get them done as soon as possible or if I don’t like it, it has to be frogged.

This one was awesome but I had quite a few colors to work with. So it took me a while to get the colors together and get a chart so I knew which one went where. I really like how it turned out. It was worth the wait. This blanket is for a dear friend and she got the yarn and colors and I have to say it was awesome. The yarn is 100% wool and the colors are really nice and go well together. Here is the link to the pattern. I really enjoyed working on this pattern (with this yarn, it was a really nice winter project). The blanket is soft and warm and thick.

Rippling tides No. 2

This fall has been extra-special to me for crafting as my mother has been with me. she has been really busy with knitting and crochet projects for friends and family and also accompanying me to knit-nights. which has been so much fun.

Since she was all done making gifts for everyone, she wanted to be a guest-crocheter on A Nerdy Crocheter. She crocheted this beautiful pattern with slightly different colors. Another version of this blanket is the most-popular one by Attic24. I have made this pattern in teal before. And here it is in greys and red.

IMG_2665

Materials:

Caron simply soft colors of white, grey heather and autumn red.

Finished dimensions: 27X 36”

Edging – one round of single crochet followed by dc+ch1 repeats.

This pattern is wonderful for a more chevron-look than wavy. The blanket is so soft and snuggly.

This blanket is now available on etsy.
