Ocean Crochet blanket and more…

This last couple weeks I have been working on my ocean Blanket which is inspired from my last visit to Florida Keys.

It has colors of blues and greens together. I love how calming it was to crochet this blanket and some charity hat knitting while I prepared to defend my Ph.D. thesis.

A couple of days ago, I defended my thesis and now I am on the other side of graduate school. Such an incredible experience. Made so many new friends. A new family in Indianapolis.

So as I move to a new beginning. I have to let go of my creations in the US (I don’t have any room to carry so much yarn and blankets). I am doing some charity knitting. I made this oceans moss stitch blanket for that.

Wedding Crochet blanket

This is my 100th blog post!!! yay!!

Here is a WIP I’ve been working on for over a year. It has been in time out for a while and it is finally back on my hook again and has reached its completion. Phew!!

This is a crochet blanket which is a free pattern. and if you notice on ravelry there are about 150 other projects for this pattern. I am personally not a fan of the hearts panel in the center so I modified it to be in celtic weave stitch inspired by this project. This pattern is slightly challenging especially if you are a beginner crocheter. But if you are interested in upping your game in crochet I highly recommend this project.

Materials:
Caron simply soft off-white and blue mint.

The 4 panels are Bobble stitch, diamond stitch, celtic weave and basketweave stitch.

Finished dimensions: 36×46″

Edging: I did 4 rows of woven stitch, followed by shell stitch.

Have a great weekend!!

Basketweave Blanket

This is a huge throw that I’ve been knitting as my brothers’s housewarming gift.

This is a super easy knit and is a free pattern. I used bigger needles (US9 while I usually use US7) to get the flow for a throw. I was also requested backing for this (which was a first). Since my mother is visiting she helped me out with choosing a backing and sewing it in.

Materials:

5 skeins of Pumpkin (caron simply soft yarn)

knitting circular needles (US size9)

Finished dimensions: 36X60”

Backing from Jo Ann in soft and comfy fabric and hand-sewed onto the blanket. This is so soft I cant explain.

Hope you are having a great weekend. Dont forget to join my instagram giveaway which is only till 1159am tomorrow
